For a paper application, prepare two identical colour photographs measuring 35 × 45 mm. The head must measure 29–34 mm from chin to crown. Print them on good-quality photographic paper without borders or damage.
Only certain paper applications need a countersignatory, including a first adult or child passport, replacement of a lost, stolen or damaged passport, renewal for a child aged 11 or under, or a renewal after a major change in appearance. When required, the countersignatory signs one of the two photos; the other stays blank.
