How it is actually submitted

You can hand in a print at the household registration office (戶政事務所) or upload the photo beforehand through the Department of Household Registration image upload service. The application is made in person because your face is checked, but you supply the photo. We deliver the digital file plus a print version.

How to prepare

Use a white wall and even light, face the camera and keep your ears visible. The rule recommends dark clothing to contrast with the background. Remove any hat and avoid frames that cover the eyes.

Common rejection reasons

  • Photo older than two years
  • Ears or features covered by hair
  • Hat, tinted glasses or frames over the eyes
  • Retouched, composite or mirrored photo
  • Head outside 32–36 mm

We check the requirements for you

You don't need to memorize measurements or biometric rules. Imagokit applies this document's official setup and checks the result before delivery.
